The breathing model:
During inhalation, the diaphragm contracts and moves downward.
This increases the space in the chest, allowing the lungs to expand and drawing air
through the nose and/or mouth into the respiratory system.
During exhalation, the diaphragm returns toward its normal resting position.
Air leaves the lungs, travels up the bronchi and trachea, passes through the
larynx, and exits through the mouth. When the vocal folds are activated,
they vibrate and turn the airflow into voiced sound.
